Resilient WEST is a partnership between University of West Georgia, the Troup County Trauma Responsive Community Collaborative, and community partners. The coalition’s mission is to build resilient communities across Carroll, Coweta, Heard, Troup, and Meriwether counties by fostering wellness, education, support, and transformation. They provide trauma-informed care, raise awareness of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and deliver education and prevention efforts surrounding the development of resilient communities in West Georgia to promote healing and well-being for children, families, and individuals aged 0-26.
Resilient WEST will embody four growth areas in wellness, education, support, and transformation.
· Wellness: Promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being as foundational to resilience.
· Education: Supporting individuals and communities to take control of their health and healing.
· Support: Providing the resources and care needed for individuals to thrive and recover.
· Transformation: Helping communities shift towards healing, growth, and long-term resilience.
Resilient WEST will:
· Increase Community Awareness and Understanding of ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences)
· Implement the "Handle with Care" Program Across the Five Counties
· Develop a Workforce Development Pipeline Focused on Trauma-Informed Care
· Build a Community of Certified Mental Health First Aiders
· Evaluate and Strengthen Coalition Leadership and Impact
